Creating Positive Change For People With Pain
THE SESSIONS:
THINKING ABOUT THINKING
When we get into a predictable routine, we do the same things over and over, sometimes without even thinking about it. Taking the same route every day can become so routine that we can sometimes end up at the destination but not remember the drive. Have you ever had something similar happen to you? You successfully maneuvered the activity without incident but you were completely on autopilot.
Our brains will choose the path of least resistance. It is how we are wired. There is a network of latticework throughout the brain making many avenues of solutions to take but our brains will choose the easiest most familiar route even if it is not the best route.
It will choose the familiar to relieve ourselves of having to think about new avenues. Our brains become lazy and keep us on the same worn path even if it's not taking us where we really want to go.
Research proves that you can teach your brain new tricks. The brain has an enormous capacity to adapt influencing how we feel and act. You can harness your brain’s power to adapt to your life with chronic pain.
In our sessions, we will do a lot of “thinking about thinking.” Our input and output data influence the lattice network connections within our brains and we can control input and output data.
The fact that you can think, the fact that you can navigate this website, the fact that you are able to reason in and out of situations, all of this is what give you the ability to improve your circumstances. You have the power and the ability within yourself to develop new channels of thinking within your brain.
The guiding principle of restoring your sense of power and control is the goal of each session.
